Dear Maumelle Citizens and Visitors:
It has been one year since I took office, and it has been a wonderfully challenging and exciting experience! I have witnessed first hand the accelerated growth of our City. We have been fortunate to be able to welcome many new businesses to our community.
In 2007, Fresenius Medical Care, North America, a multi-million dollar corporation decided to make Maumelle their new home! In addition we have welcomed Grace Health Care, Stonehaven Assisted Living Facility, The Print Shop, Noggins, UPS Store and many more! We’ve also added to our list of eateries including the Pasta House, Arby’s and Taco Bueno! We look forward to adding Sashimi Japanese Steakhouse to this list in the very near future! Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market will open in the Spring, and the new 83,000 square foot Kroger store is planned to open in late summer!
The Road Rail Separation Project will be completed in the first few months of 2008 alleviating the congestion at the north end of Maumelle Boulevard. Our new softball complex is scheduled to open this spring which will allow for more family and community activities. The new Public Works building is under construction and we expect to start the renovations for the new Animal Control and Transfer Station facilities as soon as the Public Works building is completed. This year we will break ground on a new Police Station and a new Fire Station to accommodate our growing community.
We are continuing to provide family oriented activities for our residents and visitors. I hope to see you at our 2nd annual Family Fest and our 3rd annual Relay For Life! We will again have our annual Fourthfest celebration in July, which has been a city event for over 20 years.
It’s an exciting time to be in Maumelle, whether you live, work or you’re just visiting the City!! Please visit our website, www.maumelle.dina.org to find out more about what is happening in our community.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you. If you have questions or concerns, please call me or any of my staff at 501-851-2500 or send an email to me at mayor@maumelle.org. You may also join us at the City Council meetings, held the first and third Mondays of each month, and voice your opinions.
We encourage you to “Shop Maumelle First,” whenever possible. Help us make Maumelle an even better place to live and work!
Sincerely,
Michael Watson
